Whether you have a business that you’re responsible for or you’re someone who takes care of cleaning at home, it’s important to have clean floors that are safe and comfortable for people to use. But because the floors of any building are going to be used at all times, it can be hard to keep them clean throughout each day. Luckily, there are things that you can do that can make this a bit easier for you.
To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for keeping your home and office floors clean.
Encourage People To Clean Their Shoes
Ideally, it’s best for people not to wear their outdoor shoes inside. And while you might be able to enforce this rule in your home, you can’t very well make people take their shoes off when they’re coming into work or your place of business. However, there are things that you can do to encourage people to come inside with cleaner shoes.
If you don’t already have a doormat on the outside of your building, consider adding some immediately. You can also put a rug on the inside of the door so that there’s even more of a chance of people cleaning off their shoes before stepping onto the floor. And if you’re looking to make people even more aware of the fact that they should clean their shoes before coming inside, you can also put a shoe scraper brush by the door for people to run their shoes through.
Sweep Or Vacuum Each Day
At the end of the day, or even throughout the day if you notice that a big mess has been made on the floor, it’s smart to sweep or vacuum the floor of your home or commercial space.
If you leave debris and other messes on the floors for longer than is needful, you can run the risk of that debris causing damage to the flooring, from scratches and scuffs or tears and stains. So if you’re able to sweep or vacuum your flooring each day, it’s best to do so.
Do Regular Deep Cleans
Along with the daily cleaning that you should be doing, if you want your flooring to last for as long as possible, you should also schedule to do regular deep cleans as well.
Depending on the type of flooring that you have, a deep clean may include something like mopping, steaming, or shampooing the flooring. In high traffic areas, you’ll want to do this far more often than in areas that don’t get a lot of foot traffic.
If you’re wanting to keep your home and office flooring cleaner, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you with this.
